A DAD'S interest in his daughter's school has resulted in a £250 boost.

Robert Grindrod is working as treasurer for the Sports Hall Appeal at daughter Victoria's school, Bury Church of England High School.

And his bosses at Royal Bank of Scotland have given their backing to his extra-curricular activities by donating £250 to the appeal. The bank encourages its staff to take part in community activities and gives awards to those who work particularly hard. This is Mr Grindrod's second award.

The school has now raised about £90,000 towards its £125,000 target. The Government will pay the rest of the £1.25 million cost.

Victoria Grindrod (12) hands over the cheque to headteacher Mr Phil Grady. Looking on are the Year 8 Emerging Schools rugby champions and Year 9 five-a-side champions with head of PE Mr Trevor Dorey.
