GLEN Little has followed Gareth Taylor's lead by insisting he would be happy to agree a new contract with Burnley.

The winger saw last season out on loan at Reading in order to boost the Turf Moor coffers by £125,000.

But Little, who has just one year remaining on his current deal, is happy to extend his love affair with Clarets' fans following an end-of-season debriefing session with boss Stan Ternent.

The London-born wide man, 27, said: "I'm perfectly happy to stay at Burnley if they want to keep me.

"Obviously things have gone quiet now the season is over, but I've had a little chat with the gaffer and there's no change to the original plan, which was always to come back after the summer break.

"I still have at least a year left and, although you can never say never, I am more than happy to stay as long as they want."

Little revealed that Reading boss Alan Pardew had expressed an interest in signing him permanently, despite the Royals' suffering First Division play-off heartache at the hands of Wolves.

But there is no doubt that Clarets' chief Ternent is well and truly in the driving seat by having the winger tied up for another 12 months.

Pardew would therefore have to come up with a substantial fee to prise Little out of Burnley's grasp - something that may now be beyond them after being consigned to another season in the cash-strapped Nationwide League.

Little said: "Alan is interested, but it's all to do with money and at the end of the day, I'm still committed to Burnley."

Little's desire to stay is another welcome boost for Ternent following Gareth Taylor's insistence he wants to stay.

It also provides a tonic for fans' fearing the further break-up of a side that, for all this season's frustrations, has now firmly established itself as a First Division force.

However, Little admitted he was sad to see the departure of so many high-profile players from the Turf Moor payroll.

He added: "It was a shame to lose the players we have, and everything is up in the air again now.

"It's a worrying time for them, but they are all good lads and I'm sure they will find new clubs somewhere.

"These are worrying times for players and when you have a contract, you have to be grateful."
