A MOTHER-of-two suffered a black eye after her former long-time friend turned up at her home spoiling for an early hours punch up, a court was told.

Burnley Crown Court heard how Wendy Green climbed out of the window into her back yard when mother of four Donna Quigley arrived at her home in Lowerhouse Lane, Burnley, after a night out.

Both women, said to be drunk, ended up rolling around on the ground and pulling hair, as Mrs Green's schoolboy son tried to stop the "vicious" scuffle.

Quigley, 35, of Helston Close, Burnley, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm, last October.

Mark Lamberty, prosecuting, said there had earlier been an altercation between Mrs Green and the defendant in the Britannia pub on Oxford Road, Burnley.

Mark Stuart, defending, told the court Quigley should not have gone round to the complainant's house and she accepted that.

He said she could not argue self defence.

He added the defendant had "bitten the bullet", and moved since the offence, the two women were no longer in contact and there had been no more trouble since.

Quigley, who was was effectively of good character, was given 75 hours community punishment.
