CERYS MATTHEWS: Cockahoop

THE difference between loving and hating this album depends on two things -- your feelings towards country music and Cery's Matthew's distinctive voice. The former lead singer with Catatonia has struck out on her own and headed to Nashville.

The resulting album will no doubt delight and appal in equal measure. I think it's great and it it could be that Ms Matthews has found her new role in life.

STEREOPHONICS: You Gotta Got There To Come Back

FOURTH album from the Welsh wizards, this time produced by lead singer Kelly Jones. It's more of the same in many ways which won't disappoint existing fans. Guitars are well and truly to the fore and the sound's a little more raucous which ain't a bad thing.

VARIOUS: Asian Vibes

AT first glance I thought I'd hate this, but I've got to say it's a good soundtrack for the summer. With clever remixes and crossover hits including Panjabi MC and Massive Attack you'll find yourself putting it on in the car or in the background and before you realise it you'll be humming along.

VARIOUS: Classical Heartbreakers

IF you're a true lover of classical music this double CD will leave you despairing, but you shouldn't. It might be a crass piece of packaging -- and a naff title -- lumping together 'classical music' which has featured in films, on TV and even in adverts, but it will expose some wonderful music to a wider audience, which can't be a bad thing.

It includes pieces from Titanic, Room With A View and Schindler's List. Put aside your prejudices and just enjoy.
