THE spectacle that is Mystique dazzles and delights, radiating loveliness and laughter.

Mystique has a magic that appeals to both young and not so young, and its strengths are in its versatility of performance, its ever-changing scenes from Gothic illusions to vibrant dance and from hilarious comedy to sensuous songs, all performed to the highest standards demanded by producer and director Amanda Thompson for Stageworks Worldwide Productions.

As master illusionist Richard de Vere weaves his magic spell, the seemingly impossible happens when a gorgeous dancer appears to be sliced into nine segments, another impaled on a spike and a circular saw and knives pierce flesh! (I remember the days when the lady was merely cut in half -- how we've moved on!)

Beautifully-attired dancers in feather and fur, body art and jewels, blend perfectly with the equally lovely singers Krystal Cooper (a sixteen-year-old with a big future) and Gemma Forshaw.

Watch out for the 'bunnies' and the gorgeous gyrations of the boy dancers, notably Graham Elsley, all wonderfully choreographed by Nikki Alexander.

Amiable comedian Tom Bright is madcap magician Wayne Daniels and also a brilliant and joyous compere of this captivating cabaret where the audience can also be wined and dined during the show.

It isn't over until the blond boy sings, and that's Mark Lawlor, a dynamic dancer with a great voice, who unfortunately doesn't get to sing until the finale, and you just wish for a bit more magic for Mystique to start all over again!

Mystique is at The Horseshoe, Blackpool Pleasure Beach until November 2. For tickets contact 0870 444 5588.
