YOU could have knocked me down with a feather when I learned that the Westleigh estate on which I was brought up has gone upmarket -- in name only of course.
I didn't know where a council press officer was talking about when in a conversation he referred to the Trees Estate.
I was flabbergasted when he enlightened me that it was Maple Crescent, Heather Grove, Larch Road etc!
Perhaps unbeknown to me the Diamond Street area is known as the Gems estate and the Wigan Road one the Poets estate. Well it sounds good -- and makes sense.
