A RUGBY ace from Lancaster Royal Gram-mar School has been thrust into the sporting limelight.

Sean Cox, pictured, wowed officials with his star performances on the recent England Schoolboys' tour to Italy - and has now been singled out for the England Under 19s.

A letter of praise was sent to his school, crediting his talent and excellent demeanour throughout the tour. And he has received the news that he has secured a place on a summer U19s development camp in South Africa.

"Sean became an integral part of the squad, playing a key role on the field but also setting him and the others the highest standards in training," says John Williams, England Schools' rugby manager.

"Outside of the rugby, he was a leader in the group and a pleasure to be with. He did credit to all he represented, especially Lancaster Royal Grammar School," he adds.

Sean says he was 'very pleased' with both his personal and the team's performances in Italy and he is now looking forward 'immensely' to the U19s camp.

Brian Bonney, director of sport at LRGS, says: "I'm delighted for Sean to be offered this amazing opportunity.

"He has worked exceedingly hard and shown true dedication. I know he will relish the South African experience and will be a great ambassador."

Sean is now preparing to touch down at the Cape Town camp on July 5, before hopping a short flight to Johannesburg to join his school team for its own six-match South African tour.
