A BLACKBURN man has gone on trial accused of swinging a 46-year-old man into the road, resulting in him being run over by a car.

Preston Crown Court was told that William Bulcock was then allegedly kicked by Andrew Hill as he lay unconscious in the road as paramedics tended to him.

The jury heard Mr Bulcock woke up in hospital having suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung, fractured skull and a cut to his head and was only fit enough to make a statement a month after the alleged attack.

Richard Haworth, prosecuting said Bulcock had made a complete recovery but could not remember the incident or how he came to be injured

Hill, 29, of Clayton Street, who denies causing grievous bodily harm with intent on January 9 this year, told police it was an accident when Mr Bulcock was knocked in front of the car and that he had gently kicked him to see if he was all right.
