BLACKBURN transfer target Lorenzo Amoruso was today tipped to become a huge fans' favourite next season when he finally completes his move to Ewood.

Amoruso looks set to sign next week after finally agreeing terms with Rovers boss Graeme Souness.

And a source close to his current club, Rangers, believes he will make a similar kind of impact in the Premiership as his former Ibrox team-mate, Tugay, did when he made the same move two years ago.

"I think he will turn out to be a very good signing for Blackburn, there's no doubt about it," said the source.

"He's one of the top players in Scotland and he's well liked by the fans at Rangers because he goes into every game nothing less than a hundred per cent committed.

"He's the kind of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and the fans like that because it shows he is passionate about the club.

"So I'm sure he will be a big hit in England. Apart from his passion, he's a very good player and a decent defender so I don't think Blackburn fans need to worry about him adapting to life in England.

"I can see him making a similar kind of impact in the Premiership as Tugay, although the two are totally different in terms of their style of play."

Souness wants the Italian at Ewood because he believes he will be more adept at bringing the ball out of defence than Henning Berg was.

And the view in Glasgow is the Rovers boss has got himself a bargain after agreeing a fee in the region of £1.25 million with Rangers for the 32-year-old.

"I'd say Souness has got himself a good buy," continued the source.

"Blackburn should get at least two or three good seasons out of him yet, even though he's now the wrong side of 30.

"He's certainly good enough to cut it in the Premiership.

"As well as being a capable defender, he's very strong in the air and he will pose an aerial threat at set-pieces, too.

"He chipped in with quite a few important goals for Rangers during his time up here and he can play a bit as well.

"If I do have a criticism, though, it's that he's prone to the odd mistake now and again which has proved costly in the past."

Rovers fans have also been warned to expect the former Fiorentina star to have plenty to say for himself once he finally seals a move to England.

During his time in Scotland, Amoruso developed a reputation for being quite outspoken, which has got him into trouble before now.

"He's the type of guy who always has something to say about things," added the source.

"In the build up to Old Firm games, for instance, he was never afraid to say something derogatory about Celtic which of course endeared him to Rangers fans.

"But as long as he does the business on the pitch, I'm sure Blackburn fans won't mind about that."
