LANCASHIRE Partnership for Road Safety strives to raise awareness of the consequences of speeding to prevent the reality of road deaths and injuries within communities, such as Worsthorne.

Speeding in Britain carries a penalty of at least £60 plus three penalty points, with the fine for speeding through roadworks rising to £305.

NEW locks and chains for the allotment gates have been suggested following the recent break-ins. The allotments manager and the chairman of the Parish Council have the matter in hand. Any information on the intruders should be passed to PC Glenn Grey on 423201.

THE Mothers' Union is collecting toiletries over the next few months for the use of patients arriving at the Maternity Unit with very little, either because of an emergency situation or for lack of resources. Anyone wishing to help should take their gifts to the church or to the Mothers' Union meetings.

WORSTHORNE Art and Craft Fair will run from the preview night on Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 10. Volunteers for the stewards' rota should contact Barbara on 427964. Contributions will be needed for the plant stall, and cakes etc, for the kitchen.
