DARWEN Masters Peter Tucker and Barbara Morton turned in five star performances in the Northern Counties Masters Championship, winning five gold medals each as well as setting new records.

Tucker, who had already won five golds in the Great Britain Masters in the 70-74 age-group freestyle events, set new best times in 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke finals. He also won gold in the 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

Morton, swimming in the same age group, set five new records in the 50m and 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

Like Tucker, Morton also had success in June's Great Britain Masters, winning gold in the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Men -- 80 plus age group: Jack Neary -- gold: 100m breaststroke, silver: 50m breaststroke. 55-59: Graham Croxson -- silver: 100m freestyle. 50-54: David Neville -- gold: 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, bronze: 50m freestyle. Ged Johnson -- silver: 50m butterfly, bronze: 50m breaststroke. 35-39: Garry Vickers -- gold: freestyle events, silver: 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly. Roger Hall -- gold: 50m backstroke. David Henry -- silver: 100m individual medley, bronze: 50m breaststroke. 30-34: Peter Kelly gold: 50m butterfly, silver: 100m and 50m backstroke.

Ladies -- 50-54: Rena Barnes -- gold: 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly, silver: 100m breaststroke, 100m individual medley. Brenda Croxson -- silver: 100m freestyle, bronze: 50m breaststroke. Christine Neville -- bronze: 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke Lorraine Kemp -- silver: 50m backstroke, 100m butterfly bronze: 50m freestyle.

The club also won two silvers and a bronze in the relay events as the Masters returned with a haul of 44 medals.
