A LOT of youngsters have no respect for people or property.

Tyldesley residents are being terrorised by laughing snipers in the park taking pot shots at late night passers-by.

Everywhere there is ignorance, arrogance, thoughtlessness and downright bad manners.

On Friday I was sitting quietly by Rivington Lake when four noisy young lads approached spoiling the peace and quiet, and one had the audacity to shout "Borrow us a fag, Mrs". Pardon!

I responded that I didn't smoke and neither should they -- and was given a mouthful. What are they doing there at 2pm that's what I'd like to know?

I took my first summer trip of the year to the local beauty spot and I must say I didn't feel very wanted -- or safe either for that matter.

Not only have the can and bottle strewing litter bugs struck there ruining the place, but there are signs up advertising the fact that "Thieves operate in this area". How off putting is that when people have to park their cars?

I blame the Commonwealth Games. They made the area look so beautiful that the wrong kind of people have been attracted. That is unless the signs are a cunning ploy to keep sightseeing numbers down.

I have received a letter from a Lowton resident who is also sick of young people who think the country owes them a living.

He says that while he was away on a well-earned holiday from work he returned to find some moron had left two seven feet scratches on his new car, leaving him with a £477 bill to get it put right.

It's soul destroying when people are scared of going anywhere or leaving anything because of the actions of a mindless minority.

One day the people in authority might learn some sense and stop treating those responsible for all the heartache they cause with kid gloves.
