BLACKPOOL will boast an attraction even more statuesque than the tower this weekend as stunning chart-topper -- Lucy Carr -- makes an appearance at The Syndicate nightclub.

Lucy, whose debut single, Missing You, made it straight into the Top 30 in January, will be performing, for one night only at the Church Street venue on Saturday, July 12.

Blonde, beautiful, talented, not to mention a thoroughly nice person to boot, she's the type of girl most women would kill to be!

But as reported in The Citizen earlier this year, 26-year-old Lucy who originally hails from Flint in North Wales is most certainly not afraid of a bit of elbow-grease.

In fact, despite enjoying a highly successful singer/songwriter career, the former bank worker has spent the last four-and-a-half years writing songs and struggling to get a break in the business.

In that time the industrious Lucy has made ends meet with an assortment of jobs, including model and dancer, before catching the eye of boyfriend, Peter Stringfellow, during a stint working in his West End club.

Lucy said: "Strangers sometimes look at me and because I'm with Peter think I've had it easy, but those who know me know that I don't accept anything on a plate.

"I work really hard at everything I do and am very critical of myself, my work and the lifestyle I lead.

"I come from a small town where everybody is taught from a young age to find a nice, dependable and secure job, knuckle down to it and don't take any chances.

"And for a number of years I gave it a try and really made a success of it, but I knew I could never be happy without experiencing life a little bit more.

"After a while the boredom just sort of made me flip. I handed my notice in, gave back the company car, packed my bags and left for London to try my hand at modelling.

"Many people, my parents and friends included, thought I was absolutely mad and would fall flat on my face before crawling back home. But sometimes you just have to follow your dreams.

"The way I saw it I was over 21 and single, had no children depending on me and I wasn't hurting anybody. So whose place was it to criticise?

"I firmly believe that you can do anything if you just keep focused, get out there and give life a go.

"At the time I knew that -- ready or not -- this was my chance, so I took it and, thankfully, it paid off."

Indeed it did!

Missing You received rave reviews from a host leading DJs and earned it's way onto five high profile dance compilations, including Clubland 2 after being release in four countries.

Lucy , whose latest single 'This Is Goodbye' is released on July 21, was offered the chance to appear at The Syndicate after playing her latest single to boss, Mike Nordwind, while on holiday in Majorca.

Lucy said: "Peter's been friends of the Nordwinds for years and we often meet up with them during breaks away at our villa in Majorca.

"We call them 'The Blackpools' -- they're a really lovely couple and it was during one of these meetings that I played This Is Goodbye to Mike.

"He loved it and started dancing around to it, then he threw in the idea that we should include The Syndicate on the tour.

"I accepted straight away because Blackpool's one of my favourite nights out in Britain and, even though Peter was there on the club's opening night last year, I haven't seen inside it yet.

"Apparently the Syndicate DJs have already been playing the single, so hopefully people should know it by the time I arrive."

Syndicate spokesman, Andy Singleton said: "We're all really looking forward to welcoming Lucy to the club.

"She's got a fantastic talent and reaction to her latest single has already been phenomenal from clubbers."
