A SPECIAL council meeting will be held at Nelson Town Hall at the end of this month to approve any outstanding policies or strategies in preparation for the comprehensive performance assessment inspection in September.
It will also be used to discuss the council's submission to the Boundary Committee for England on proposals for local government reorganisation in Lancashire and the possibility of a North West Assembly, before the deadline of September 8.
It was decided to hold the extra meeting at the full council meeting at which the list of the executive portfolio holders was also announced.
CounDavid Clegg will be responsible for housing, Coun Alan Davies for economy, Coun Tony Beckett for community, Coun John David for environment, Coun David Whipp for resources, Coun Gary Rowland for communication, Coun Frank Clifford for leisure, Coun Sheila Derwent for rural, Coun Colin Waite for democratic engagement and Coun Rosemary Carroll for performance.
