BLACKBURN defender Andy Todd has handed in a transfer request just 10 days before the start of the new season.
And manager Graeme Souness has 'reluctantly' agreed to put the player on the market.
Todd, 28, is frustrated after starting only 14 games for Rovers since his £750,000 move from Charlton in May 2002.
Souness told the Evening Telegraph: "Andy Todd came to me and asked for a transfer. I don't want to lose him but we've reluctantly accepted it.
"He feels as though he needs first team football at this stage in his career."
Todd, son of former England defender Colin, spent three months on loan at Grimsby Town last season, where he made 12 appearances
He started only seven league games for Rovers and was sent off against Birmingham last season for kicking Christophe Dugarry. He later apologised to his team-mates for his actions.
The release of central defender Henning Berg in the summer pushed Todd up the pecking order, but Souness then signed Lorenzo Amoruso from Rangers.
As a former Middlesbrough, Charlton and Bolton player, he is bound to attract interest from other Premiership clubs.
His transfer request comes in the week fellow defender John Curtis joined Leicester City.
And Berg last night completed his move to Rangers, signing a one-year deal.
Rangers director or football, Martin Bains, said: "We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Henning, and look forward to working with him.
"The medical went smoothly, and Henning is just desperate to get going in his new surroundings."
Graeme Souness watched Arsenal take on Rangers last night. Target Francis Jeffers did not score in the 3-0 win, but impressed in attack.
