CLARETS boss Stan Ternent was hoping for better news on injured striker Gareth Taylor, who suffered a nasty eye injury against Leeds over two weeks ago.

The Welsh hitman was due to visit a specialist to assess the damage caused to bleeding behind the eye.

Ternent said: "It all depends on the blood pressure in his eye. The lady who is looking after Gareth is excellent and we'll find out where he is up to.

"They let him home for the weekend and depending on some more tests and what the readings are, that will determine what she is going to do."

He added: "It's serious because it's a bleed behind the eye. If he trains he gets his pulse rate up, which makes it worse.

"Certainly he can't do a thing for three or for weeks - no training at all."

Taylor was a target for Norwich before suffering his eye injury. And Canaries boss Nigel Worthington today revealed he is still contemplating whether to renew his interest.
