THE rise and rise of Bolton boxing ace Amir Khan continued in fine style at the European Cadet Championships in Lithuania.
After watching the rest of his England team-mates crash out in the preliminary rounds, the Bury Amateur Boxing Club fighter made light work of his route to the 60kg final.
And there he took less than two rounds to build up the 14-point advantage needed to victoriously halt his bout with Azerbaijan's Mamedov.
In doing so, he became the first Englishman to take a gold medal at the championships on foreign soil.
He also took away the Best Boxer prize and the Ahmet Comert Cup for being the competition's Most Outstanding Performer.
Now he has his sights set on gold at the European Student Championships in Rome this November.
