POLICE are warning Darwen residents to keep their doors locked despite the warm weather.

The warning follows a house raid in Blackburn Road at 11am on Friday while the homeowner was in the back garden.

The thieves walked in through an open door, stole two purses containing credit cards and £70, and walked back out.

DC Scott Waddington, of Darwen CID, said: "We've had some hot weather but that doesn't mean that people can leave all their doors open because there will be opportunists there to make a move.

"People should be careful to make their houses secure at all times, even when the weather is hot."

Anyone with information on the house raid should contact Darwen police on 01254 353842.
