RESIDENTS are urged to get into the swing of gala preparations for Darwen this week.
Costume making and float decorations are taking place at Earcroft Community Base, in Hawkshaw Avenue, from 1pm to 3.30pm, until Friday.
Michelle Rutherford, event organiser, said: "We want people to really get involved with the spirit of things and this type of event can really bring the community together.
"Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. We want as many people as possible to get involved."
The gala road parade will take place at 12.30pm from Anchor Road and the floats will be judged one hour beforehand.
For more information about the events this week, contact Michelle on 01254 775248.
Places are still available for the group trip to Wigan Pier Museum on Tuesday, August 19 from 10am to 5pm. Contact the base for more information.
