I'M surprised that British National Party councillor Robin Evans (LET, July 26) can complain about being abused for his politics, when members of his party regularly abuse people for nothing more than their skin colour or religion.
Perhaps he wasn't aware of the intimidation suffered by political activists on the streets of Mill Hill in the run-up to his election to Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Will he use his position as an elected representative to push for his own party's zero-tolerance policy on law and order to be enforced on members of the BNP and the Nazi paramilitary organisation Combat 18, who engage in physical violence?
Perhaps this would gain the party some of the respectability it so badly craves.
PHIL JOHNSON, Blackburn.
