POLICE have called off the search for missing Burnley youngster Daniel Entwistle, who disappeared from home more than three months ago.

The seven-year-old, who was born in Burnley and lived with his mum, Paula, 30, and dad, David, 41, in Peel Street, Padiham, before moving to Great Yarmouth, in Norfolk, three years ago, vanished shortly after living his home on May 3.

A bicycle belonging to him was found near the raised bank of the tidal river Yare and, although there were initial reports that he might have been abducted, police said it was more likely that he fell into the river and drowned.

This week Norfolk police announced that that they would be calling off their search for Daniel at the end of the week.

A statement said: "There have been no new lines of inquiry for officers to pursue and therefore, while the investigation will remain active with the monitoring of developments and information, there will be no officers solely dedicated to it."

Speaking from her home in Bevington Close, Burnley, his aunt, Cath Entwistle, 40, said: "It is really upsetting to find out that the investigation is coming to a close.

" I am still hoping that they will find him so that his mum and dad and all the family can get on with their lives. At the moment we are still in limbo .

"We don't know where he is, or what has happened to him, we just want to know."
