EAST Lancashire's answer to the Williams sisters are taking the tennis world by game, set and match!

Bradley babes Jessica, 15, and Francesca, 14, have just faced each other in the final of their first prestigious tournament.

Now, like their tennis idols Serena and Venus Williams - who faced each other in this year's Wimbledon final - they know all too well what is like to celebrate victory at the same time as consoling defeat.

But both teenagers still dream of life as professional tennis stars and would love to lead the nation to victory at Wimbledon one day.

The Westholme Upper School pupils recently went head to head for the title in the Junior Preston Tournament .

Proud mum Suzanne, of Ribchester, says her loyalties are always split when the sporty sisters face each other across the net.

She said: "It is very difficult when they meet each other in the final because you have got one daughter who is the winner and you are really happy but the other who has been beaten so you have to console them.

"But the match is always very close and a good match. I am very proud of them both."

The girls became keen on tennis when the family joined Ribchester tennis club six years ago.

Jessica has recently won the Junior Preston Tournament, beating Francesca in the final. She also plays for Blackburn Northern in the national club league as well as being senior tennis champion at Westholme.

"I absolutely love to play," said Jessica. "If I can't play my sister then I would be up against my brother or father.

"I was glad to be playing in the Preston final but it is harder playing my sister than anyone else because even though you know her weakness, when she is upset you feel awful.

"At the Wimbledon final, you could tell that Serena did not share the same delight as men's champion Roger Federer, who literally fell to his knees."

Francesca, Ribchester Ladies Singles champion this season, is hoping to follow in the footsteps of American champion Jennifer Capriati as a ground stroke specialist.

She said: "I am always the underdog with Jessica which is quite nice because I don't get the same pressure. I like that because I have never got anything to lose."

Now they train under the watchful eye of coach Ian Taylor every day. Their winter season routine will see the practice timetable drop - to a mere five days a week!
