A JOINERY firm in Longridge has been given permission to construct a ventilator in its roof, despite objections from residents that it will cause a din.
Ribble Valley Council's planning and development committee heard H. T. Forest Limited wanted to construct the metre-square grid at its workshop in Inglewhite Road as part of a filtration system from a paint spray booth.
But residents of nearby Hesketh Road, Mary Street West and St Mary's Close were against the scheme, claiming it would be a noise nuisance.
Resident Magdalen Cookson told councillors that 12 householders had written letters and 27 had signed a petition objecting to the scheme.
She said: "The ventilator will be very close to our homes and the noise from it will ruin our peace. This kind of development should be on an industrial estate and not in a residential area."
