I HAD a rude awakening the other morning when I went to the Salt Ayre tip, intending to dutifully sort my rubbish into the skips as labelled - plastics, tins, cardboard, garden refuse and so on... but I was nearly run over by a convoy of lorries dumping tons of unsorted rubbish straight onto the tip.

So just why are we, members of the public, sorting out our little bits and bobs when the professionals don't bother? Can anyone explain?
