THE second largest execution for witchcraft in England took place at Lancaster in 1612, spawning countless books and theories as to who the Pendle witches were and how they came to meet their fate.
The Pendle Witches tour today (Thursday) helps to answer some of these questions in a walk through the ancient streets of the city, starting from the Castle's John O'Gaunt Gateway at 7.30pm.
