BUS driver Adam Walker has always had a driving ambition to do well at his job.
And now he has been named Bus Driver of the Year for bus operations of First in the north west.
Adam, of Ripon Close, Radcliffe, who is based at the firm's Bury depot, has been driving with First for three years. He took the award after qualifying as the winner for the Manchester West company which covers Bury, Bolton and Wigan. Bury depot manager Peter Walch also brought back an award as winner of the Management Challenge.
The competition, held on the coach park at Bolton's Reebok Stadium, involved 25 drivers who had qualified for their place in preliminary rounds at depots across First's Northwest division. Having completed a Highway Code test, the drivers were faced with the ultimate test of their driving skills.
Adam will now represent the division in the UK Bus Driver of the Year competition in Blackpool on September 6.
