A PRESTON barman with an unusual hobby is keeping his regulars on their toes with a life-size model of the blockbuster film character The Terminator.

Russell Baines, 31, who pulls pints at the Ribble Pilot, Mariners Way, has created the cyborg exo-skeleton monster to coincide with the release of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

The movie buff makes cardboard characters from films and his latest creation is from the hit action movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger -- now running for governor in California.

Russell, of Greenlands estate, Ribbleton, has already created several cardboard doubles at his home including Star Wars' Darth Vader which he exhibited at The Harris Museum and Art Gallery last Christmas as part of the art bazaar.

Russell said: "I love films and have always enjoyed making things. It all started when I used to watch Blue Peter as a child. It was that 'here's one I made earlier' that got me started.

"I was never very good at using clay or papier-mache, but then I discovered cardboard was my medium. I like the challenge of creating a life-sized model and became so attached to my Darth Veda that I've kept it."

But Russell said he simply doesn't have the space to keep all his models and has to dismantle many of them. But he has already taken a shine to the exo-skeleton and plans to hold on to it.
