A MOUNTAIN bike stunt team used to performing at shows and festivals across Europe will be making its way to Pendle at the end of this month for the new East Lancs and Pendle Bike Fest.

The Saracen M.A.D. Team, which has also appeared on TV, will be coming to Victoria Park, Nelson, on Saturday, August 30, to perform shows.

Event co-ordinator Mark Sandamas said: "I have used them at a few events in the past and I am always amazed by the tricks they are able to perform. Each time they have developed something even more daring than before. I am sure visitors to the show will be in for a treat."

There are plenty of things for people to try, including unusual and wacky bikes and cycles specially adapted for people with disabilities. There will also be a computerised bike where the rider has to complete a virtual reality safety course, and the chance to have a go on roller-racing from the National Cycle Centre.

The Colne Cycling Campaign will be leading an easy-paced guided ride from the event, taking in the safe cycleways that have been developed in the area, and there will be a mountain bike orienteering challenge.

The free event takes place from 11am to 4pm, and has been organised to encourage people to cycle more by providing practical help and stimulating activities.
