A LEFT footed wonder is taking the junior football world by storm at the age of six!

Reece Gore of Mimosa Road, Ribbleton, plays for Red Rose FC under eights team and despite being easily the smallest player on the pitch he has already scored several hat tricks and likes to show off his dexterity when he bends it like Beckham with his magic left foot.

Reece began playing for the Preston based club when he was still in reception class at Blessed Sacrament RC Primary School, Farringdon Lane, Ribbleton. Since his first outing, where he scored the first goal of the game, he has taken them to victory several times both home and away.

Reece's mother Amanda has good reason to think he was born to play football.

"When I was pregnant with him, the midwife asked if it hurt when he kicked because he had bruised the inside of my stomach!

"He learnt to walk at 11 months and that was it. He played football in the street and the neighbours would sit and watch

"He's amazing and we reckon he'll play football for England one day.

"It took some persuading to get him on a team at such an early age and it's a nightmare trying to find football boots and a kit that fit as he's tiny."

Red Rose has teams from the under eights to the under 12s and play at Penwortham Holme recreation ground, off Liverpool Road. Reece's brother Daniel, ten, also plays for the club after being introduced to the sport by his little brother.

Lee Ormson, manager of the under eights squad, said: "Reece is very good. He's already playing a year above himself.

"He stands out on the pitch as he's so small, and you certainly can't miss him!"

Red Rose are currently looking for a sponsor. If you can help call Lee on 01772 797043.
