DTE Insurance Brokers has increased its workforce by two thirds in 12 months due to organic growth and the acquisition of a commercial brokerage.

The purchase by Bury-based DTE Insurance Brokers of St Helens firm Harden will broaden the client-base and boost sales, bringing premium income for the coming year to more than £11 million.

Mike McNulty, managing director of DTE Insurance Brokers, said: "We have created ten extra jobs during the last 12 months through organic growth and this acquisition. Our total staff numbers are now 25 and growing".

The firm has expanded year on year since he took control of the company in 1995, when premium income was £650,000, and there were just two staff. As well as traditional commercial business, the firm runs insurance schemes in the motorsport & leisure sectors, and is particularly active in the karting market.

Additionally, it operates schemes for solariums and tanning centres, and a householder scheme for mortgage providers. International business comes from a panel of 20 brokers in the Republic of Ireland, for whom DTE places business into the London & Lloyds markets.
