WHAT'S in a name? That's the question posed by council officials who are almost ready to unveil the revamped image of a familiar community landmark.
So far around £350,000 has been spent on the Thornton Lecture Hall -- which is due to have a grand opening in October -- during the last six months.
Among the changes made are new windows, roof and tiered seating blocks for up to 210 people and the installation of a state-of-the-art lighting system.
Car parking and disabled access have also been improved during the overhaul.
It is hoped that the hall's conferencing facilities will be able to attract local industry and professional organisations as well as introducing new community attractions such as themed lunchtime music sessions and lecture evenings. The only thing missing is the venues new name which Wyre Borough Council officials are hoping will come from local residents.
Wyre's Deputy Leader, Cllr Jim Lawrenson said: "These improvements bring the Lecture Hall into the 21st Century.
If you would like to suggest a name for the hall write to Tom Pridmore at Wyre Borough Council, Civic Centre, Breck Road, Poulton-le-Fylde, FY6 7PU. Alternatively telephone Tom on 01253 770547.
