THERE has been much speculation and criticism regarding my stance on the proposed Cleveleys sea front development, so to clear up any misunderstanding, I will set out my views, and then all residents can decide whether they agree with me, or whether I am 'on my own' as critics suggest.
I would like to see a development along the lines of our consultation, i.e. cinema, bowling alley etc. I would not like a KFC on the site, nor do I want to see the destruction of Jubilee Gardens. I would like to see the park designed in line with suggestions made by residents.
I am also very keen to see the promenade modernised and enhanced so that the whole area is made more attractive. If this can be achieved I think it will benefit both residents and visitors alike. Finally, I will just make one response to my critics, and that is to correct an incorrect statement. In 1999 I did not promise to build a swimming pool.
I hope this clears up any confusion.
Cllr John Hodgkinson Jubilee Ward
Thornton Cleveleys
