ARE YOU up to the challenge of the 'walk of fear' at the end of South Pier?

As part of the The Citizen's and British Heart Foundation's forthcoming fund-raising walk the kind-hearted may have to be brave too -- as they step out onto the metal grating at the pier's end.

The special steel flooring supports the Crazy Mouse ride, and -- unlike the traditional pier decking -- you really can clearly see the sea below!

But don't worry too much if your vertigo does get the better of you -- South Pier has plenty of other rides and attractions to help you relax -- and you'll still be able to complete the 4.5 mile fund-raiser, as the walk of fear is (happily) optional.

The circular sponsored Three Piers Walk -- taking in all Blackpool's piers and the Prom -- starts from the bottom of North Pier at noon on Sunday, September 7 and will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation.

Why is The Citizen backing this sponsored walk? Because heart disease is the UK's biggest single killer, affecting countless people in our community.

But the Three Piers Walk promises to be a fun way of helping to raise vital funds for more education to help prevent heart disease, more research and improved treatment for sufferers. Why not join The Citizen's own team, get together with family and friends, and register today?
