I HAVE just opened my correspondence and lo and behold, I have received a prediction from a clairvoyant, that now is the time of massive good luck and fortune in these coming months.
At the same time, I received a very nice letter from no less the Chief Constable of Lancashire, which gave me two choices -- either pay £60 fine and three penalty points on my licence or pay £85 to attend a speed awareness course, £95 if I am drawn to go to Staffordshire.
What for you say. Why, I was snapped by the roadside camera doing 35 mph near Witton Park. I had only gone that way to get some cheap petrol.
I have always been under the assumption that the authorities allowed three per cent plus two miles for tolerance. In my schooldays that added up to 30 miles plus three plus two made 35mph, but there again, I was taught with an abacus.
