BARNOLDSWICK will be full of hot air this weekend for the town's first ever balloon festival.

Hundreds of visitors are expected to descend on Victory Park for the event on Saturday, from 2pm.

Early risers will have their first chance to see the massed balloons of the North West and Pennine Balloon Associations as they are inflated.

There will be tethered flights during the afternoon and a mass launch at 6pm. In the evening, a procession of giant bug lanterns made by local children will arrive from Greenberfield Locks.

There will also be a climbing wall, balloon modelling, kite and lantern workshops, a craft market and a duck race. Entry to the park will cost £2 for adults, £1 for children and £5 for families.

There will also be a folk evening at the Fosters Arms, Gisburn Road, from 7.30pm, featuring NowThen and Keepers Fold.
