POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted at the recent Colne Blues Festival.

The 24-year-old victim from Nelson was walking down Albert Road at about 1am on Sunday, August 24, to meet a friend outside the Crown Pub when he was attacked.

As he passed a patch of grass he was grabbed from behind by the gold chains around his neck as thieves tried to rob him.

He resisted and was pushed to the ground where he was punched and kicked by three men. He was left with cuts and bruises.

The men are all described as white and around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall. One wore a white baseball cap and black tracksuit top. Another wore a light coloured jumper.
