A PETITION protesting about a planned activity centre on Cranberry Moor, Darwen, is to be handed in to Blackburn with Darwen Council.

More than 70 neighbours on either side of Moss Side Farm, have signed the petition calling for the council to refuse permission for potential development of the centre.

The scheme would feature horse riding and quad bike activities.

Homeowners believe the development would drastically reduce their quality of life and bring too many people into the peaceful countryside.

Farm owners Elaine Marsden and Duncan Bell insist they want to bring something unique to the area and have no intention of upsetting neighbours.

The centre would bring 70,000 extra car journeys to single-lane Cranberry Lane each year.

Tomorrow is the final day for objections to be sent to the council. The matter is expected to be brought before the council's planning committee in October.
