MARK Patterson is hoping to add some steel to his midfield after the departure of Ged Kielty to Stalybridge.

Kielty has featured in all six league games this season for RMI, but Patterson has allowed him to join the Unibond Premier Division side on a three month loan.

The RMI manager had targeted Chester City midfielder Jimmy Kelly -- but his hopes of signing the 30-year-old were dashed after he agreed to join Nationwide Conference rivals Scarborough.

But Patterson has secured the services of on-loan striker Neil Robinson for another month.

Robinson was due to play his last game for RMI in Saturday's home league clash with Forest Green Rovers -- but Patterson has agreed with Macclesfield Town boss David Moss to extend his loan.

Now Patterson will step up his efforts to beef up his midfield after missing out on Kelly.

He said: "I'm looking to add some steel to the midfield. Jimmy Kelly from Chester was the kind of player I'm looking for, someone with a physical presence, and I will continue to look for those kinds of players.

"Ged Kielty is a player who likes to get forward, and he has done well for me, answering all the questions I asked of him in pre-season. But I'm looking for a different kind of midfield player."

Patterson will have a fully fit squad to face Forest Green, although Gerry Harrison remains out injured.

And the RMI boss is hoping his side can bounce back from last Saturday's disappointment.

"I'm looking for a better performance against Forest Green on Saturday, which will hopefully get us three points."
