A BUILDING society in Colne is urging customers to support its appeal to raise money for people caught up in the civil war in Liberia.
An estimated one million people have been forced to fell their homes because of fighting in the capital, Monrovia, since the renewal of fighting in June this year.
Touched by their plight staff at Skipton Building Society decided to help raise money for Y Care International, an overseas relief and development agency, which is part of the YMCA movement and helps young people from across the developing world.
Paul Schofield, manager of the Skipton Building Society's Colne branch, in Albert Road, said: "Just £100 would pay for a survival kit for a family that has just lost everything. We thank everyone who has made a contribution and appeal to others to call in and make a donation."
