ANGRY passengers claim they will struggle to get into work or school during the morning rush hour after sw bus timetable changes.

Passengers claim they were given "no notice" by Atherton-based bus operator Green Triangle about the changes to the 685 service from Mosley Common to Leigh.

They said the change to the 8.30am service -- which will now run at 8.52am --has caused major problems for commuters trying to get into work or school on time.

But a spokesman for Green Triangle said the change had been made because the service was not "profitable". And he said time tables had been made available at Leigh bus station to inform passengers of changes.

Angry passenger Maureen Hirst, told the Journal: "There was no notice given by Green Triangle about the changes. It's going to be really difficult for people to get into work or to Fred Longworth School on time because of these changes.

"Their might be only five or six passengers on the bus from Mosley Common but the bus gradually fills up as it gets towards Leigh. There are other buses which go to Leigh in the morning but these are unreliable because they could get stuck in traffic coming from Manchester.

"When I inquired at Leigh bus station nobody knew about the changes."

Profitable

A spokesman for Green Triangle, said: "The 685 service was deemed not to be profitable which is why the changes have been made to the service. The service didn't warrant a half an hour service. There were new bus time tables available at Leigh bus station telling people about these changes. We can only apologise for any inconvenience this change has caused."
