Whilst the big bucks have been spent on the Hrithick outings, it seems Abhisheck has quietly stolen the limelight this summer.
His latest film Kuch Na Kaho is maybe not as riveting as earlier ventures but homes in on the eternal 'why the hell doesn't she love me?' theme Bollywood is so good at stretching.
Abhishek plays Raj, a New Yorker living with his mum (Suhasini Mullay). Arranged marriages just don't seem to be his cup of tea and he decides to shy away from ever getting married to someone he hasn't fallen in love with first. His mum on the other hand thinks otherwise.
On a visit to India though he is introduced to a match maker, Namrata (Aishwarya Rai) who it is hoped will find him to a suitable bride.
He gets introduced to whole load of women all of whom just don't cut it with our poor lad so he decides to do the next best thing - fall for the matchmaker. And who can really blame him.
In fact why on earth have a matchmaker like Aishwarya? She's going to have fellas lining up to marry her all the time. Is this some kind of sick joke where prospective husbands get to ogle at a beauty queen before being stuck with 'the wife'.
But alas, our dearest Namrata can't fall in love, because she has some sort of emotional problem. I see... that's the excuse then is it?
Arbaaz Khan soon enters proceedings and so develops the love triangle we have become so accustomed to.
Rohan Sippy will be happy with this his directing debut but truthfully it's a pretty safe bet. Sometimes everyone is just going through the motions.
Kuch Na Kaho is your basic Bolly effort and whilst the music does rescue the movie at times on a whole it's nothing new.
KUCH NA KAHO
