Leigh RMI 0 Woking 1 by Robert Johnson: RMI boss Mark Patterson was left to rue his side's missed chances after Woking snatched an away day victory last Saturday.

The Railwaymen dominated the first half and should have been in front before the break -- but they failed to convert their chances.

Neil Robinson was the main culprit, who had four clear-cut opportunities to put the home side ahead.

And Woking made RMI pay in the 56th minute when Steve Ferguson headed the only goal of the game past stranded goalkeeper Stuart Coburn.

Mark Patterson said: "Neil Robinson needs a goal, he could've scored three goals. But if we don't put away our chances against full-time teams like Woking then they will make you pay.

"We started poorly in the second half and they won a succession of corners. Their goal came from a lack of concentration and communication between my two centre-halfs Hill and Durkin. We resorted to knocking long balls after they scored, which was disappointing.

"We need more quality in the squad. And it's up to me and Phil Starbuck to turn things around."

RMI started brightly in the first half and McNiven could have put the home side in-front after just eight minutes. But his low shot from six yards was easily saved by Woking's goalkeeper Ashley Bayes.

Bayes was called into action in the 14th minute. RMI's Ian Monk fired in a half-volley from 12 yards but it was well saved by the Woking shot stopper.

Turned provider

McNiven turned provider in the 24th minute. He chested the ball on to Robinson who blasted his 30 yard effort over the bar.

In the 36th minute Robinson had a great opportunity to break his goal duck, but his header was kept out by Bayes.

RMI goalkeeper Stuart Coburn was called into action a minute later when Jefferson Lewis headed his effort over the bar.

Patterson made a change at half-time, with Paul Shepherd replacing Ged Kielty. Woking, managed by Glenn Cockerill came out of the blocks the quickest, and put RMI's rearguard under the cosh.

In the 56th minute, Woking converted their first clear cut chance. Scott Canham crossed from a short corner and Steve Ferguson powered in a near post header to give the visitor's the lead.

RMI chased the game as they looked for an equaliser. Robinson missed another chance in the 63rd minute. Monk linked up with McNiven who held off the challenges from the Woking rearguard to give Robinson time to shoot from 12 yards. But he fired his shot low and wide past the far post.

Patterson made another change as Marcus Hallows replaced Robinson in the 69th minute.

Steve Redmond nearly opened his goal account with RMI in the 84th minute, but he was unable to keep his shot from six yards on target as it sailed over the bar.
