ONE hundred and fifty years of history came to an end after bulldozers moved in to demolish part of a church.

The buildings erected in 1853 and 1872 at Boothstown Methodist Church, were demolished after being declared unsafe by Salford Council.

The buildings, which original served as a church and a day school, have stirred many memories and people have flocked to the Chaddock Lane site to film demolition work.

Boothstown man Ken Fairfax, a villager for over half a century, said: "Throughout the demolition there have been people coming up to the church to take pictures. There is a lot of sentimental value attached to those buildings."

The Church is the venue for a memorabilia display on Saturday, September 20 to raise funds to produce a Boothstown history book.

The display will include old photographs collected by Mr Fairfax over the past 15 years.

The event runs from 10.00am until 4.00pm, with light refreshments from noon until 2.00pm.

Admissions is free but donations will be welcome.
