The 'Options for All' drugs awareness project held a five-a-side football tournament at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne.

This unqiue event aimed to raise awareness of drug treatment options and support services on offer and it is hoped that by getting young people involved in sports such as football they will be less likely to get hooked on drugs.

The tournament attracted ten teams from around the borough and was eventually won by Cornered Tigers FC who overcame Paak AFC 4-1 in the final. Cornered Tigers had earlier topped group A and battled through to the final by knocking out Brierfield Celtic B.

Paak had progressed to the final after beating Nelson Boys Youth. Umar Farooq was voted player of the tournament.

Options for All is an innovative drugs project developed last year by drugs charity Inward House. Event organiser Ishtiaq Ali said, "We've got to take the drugs message out into the community and engage young people, not by preaching at them, but by getting them involved in fun events like football tournaments."
