The annual MS Charity cup held at Pleasington Playing fields in Blackburn attracted sides from as far a field as Leicester and Sheffield.

It was a Pendle victory on the day as Nelson's Itihaad beat Blackburn Tigers in the final. Participating teams were permitted to have three professional cricketers in their ranks. And whilst there was a lot of impressive displays from the pros it was a team of amateurs who stole the limelight.

To say Blackburn Tigers were the underdogs would be an under-statement. They knocked out NQ in the qaurters before coming up against one of the favourites, Intack Taxis in the semis.

Intack Taxis needed 23 off the final two overs and having got 20 in one over the game was basically won. Mohammed Rizwan though had other ideas. He bowled a magnificent final over taking three wickets and conceding only 1 run to give the Tigers victory.

Itihaad proved too strong for them in the final and won it by 11 runs.

The tournament was organised by Kesar Shezad and Mohammed Riaz raised over £1,400 for the Hazrat Sultan Babu University based in Multan, Pakistan. Kesar said, "I would like to thank everyone who participated and helped a worthy cause. Special thanks go our sponsors Chaudhry Mohammed Nassar of Darwen and Farooq of Zubeida Fashions.

"I would also like all the volunteers and helpers and the umpires, Illyas Desai, Daood Mulla, Yaqub Bhaiji and Hafiz Saab."
