If the Labour party wants Muslims to join the party then I think more than a token gesture of a separate association is needed.
The past year has made it clear to members of the Muslim community that they cannot trust either the Labour party or for that matter any of the major political parties. All were guilty of ignoring their anti-war calls. It seems this 'Muslims in Labour' ploy by the government is just another idea thought up in a bid to try and rescue what relations it has with the Muslim community.
I am all for making our voices heard through the political parties but after the past 12 months find it hard to swallow such blatant 'spin'.
