AINSWORTH...2

BURY Amateurs thumped Ainsworth on Saturday.

Amateurs turned the game on its head in a blistering 10 minutes before half time when excellent work from Gary Edwards saw Tony Jackson twice finish clinically.

Then, Subachus slotted home from 20 yards. More pressure from Bury resulted in Subachus pouncing on a loose ball and chipping in off the upright.

Following good work on the right, the ball was forced across to Gary Edwards who shot into the corner from 18 yards.

Bury lost control of the game and some sloppy defending allowed Ainsworth to pull two goals back but Bury soon restored a four-goal advantage. Pete Gibbons scored an excellent solo effort to kill the game off .

On Saturday, the first team host Lymme and the reserves travel to Old Mancunians. Both sets of players should meet at 12.45pm at Drinkwater Park for photographs. Training as usual takes place on Tuesday at Albert Park, 7.45pm. Anyone who wants to come along can contact Mike McMahon on 07932 650091.

HESKETH CASUALS...0

THE old boys finally put points on the board at the third time of asking with a comfortable victory over Hesketh at Buckley Wells.

Pete Lee prompted the opener after five minutes, sending Williams down the right flank and the winger presented Jamie Holt with a stooping header at the far post.

Moments later, Lee was again the provider but Woods' effort came back off the bar but then Morris dropped an excellent ball in for Holt, to peel away from his marker and drive home his second goal of the game.

A thumping header from Woods extended the lead when the Bury striker met Morris's driven right wing corner, and the old boys took the comfortable lead to the break.

Morris again fed Holt for the Bury striker to complete a fine hat-trick and the old boys looked as though they could score at will.

League action is suspended tomorrow when Bolton Wyresdale visit Buckley Wells in the first round of the Lancashire Amateur Cup, kick-off 2pm.
