A MAN ended up breaking into his own home because he wanted to carry on drinking and needed to collect his wallet.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Stephen Howard's bid for extra time proved costly because he caused £200 worth of a damage to front door of the house, which belonged to his partner.
Howard, 38, of Rothesay Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to damaging the door belonging to Sarah Chapman.
He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 compensation and £55 costs.
Tom Snape, prosecuting, said Howard and Miss Chapman had been out together at a family "head-wetting."
At the end of the evening, Howard and his nephew had wanted to carry on to another pub but Miss Chapman wanted to go home.
As she returned to Rothesay Road she saw Howard kicking the front door until it broke and he was able to go into the house.
Alfred Rebello, defending, said Howard had wanted to get his wallet from the house but his partner had the keys.
"They are still living together and are back on good terms," he added.
