A CHILDREN'S entertainments group is set to grow and grow!

And in their debut concert performance, youngsters of the Little Acorns raised £120. The money will help fund equipment for schools in Pakistan.

The concert was staged at the Jinnah Day Care Centre in Alfred Street, Bury. Little Acorns is led by Sheeba Salim with help from Alia Farooq and Anan Hussain.

Sheeba explained: "I set up Little Acorns six weeks ago and we have around 11 members, aged from six to 11. I thought it would give the children something to do during their summer holidays if they got bored."

Little Acorns split into two groups for the concert to perform two pieces. The younger children put on a play, entitled The Wonderful Field, while the others sang songs and recited nursery rhymes.

The money raised will go to the Shaheed Memorial Trust for Air Commodore Rizwan Ulla-Khan.

"This Trust is to help deprived schools in Pakistan and to provide them with computers, books and stationery," aid Sheeba.

Little Acorns will be meeting and performing primarily during the holidays
