AN angry pensioner is offering a £500 reward after vandals went on a weekend rampage.

Thugs damaged two fences outside homes in Nuttall Lane, Ramsbottom, as well as throwing concrete blocks at a sun lounge and a caravan and kicking car wing mirrors.

Police, including dog handlers, arrived at the scene minutes after the attack at 5am on Sunday but the teenagers escaped.

Now resident Mr George Gorman (79) says he will put up the £500 reward on behalf of householders whose properties were damaged.

"I was woken by the sound of banging and I discovered these youths were smashing a wooden fence," he said. "They kicked two panels out of my own fence.

"I shouted at them but all I got was a load of abuse. They also threw a concrete block at a sun lounge and another one at a caravan window which smashed."

Mr Gorman later discovered there was damage to seven parked cars. "Two or three of us met afterwards and I decided I would put up the reward money to anyone who provides information which leads to the conviction of these vandals. The parents must realise who these teenagers are, considering they were out at 5am."
